I actually liked Vail…
I didn’t expect to like Vail. I expected to really hate it… well as much as I could hate any place with a chairlift… which isn’t all that much. But I loved it! The mountain was AWESOME… I mean a huge area, more lifts than I could figure out, and lots of good snow (aka powder!). There were only a couple negatives which ended up really being more amusing that negative. On the gondola to the top there were a few women discussing their $500 per month purse budgets, which when I first heard the comment registered as 500 dollars in expense report gray area, not as they spend that money on actually purses… One of these ladies also answered her Blackberry and exclaimed later that she loved the fact that cell service was available everywhere on the mountain. This point I can’t exactly argue, but I try not to mention my happiness while in mixed company… I mean I know that were supposed to be enjoying nature and everything… These women also started talking about ETFs as we got off the gondola…
Parking was the other big minus in my book. We parked in a parking deck, which was something of a circus, and paid $20 for it. Well I didn’t pay, my friends did since I drove, but still, are they not making enough revenue in the fur shops?
That’s right, fur shops. I’m not a PETA member or anything crazy like that, and I figure if I’m happy eating steak that I may as well be happy wearing leather, but there is something disturbing about multiple fur shops in a ski resort.
I can’t wait to go back
