Close but not an ist

I thought I had found a suitable replacement for my gothamist franchisee LAist here in Denver with This Week in Denver.  It was recommended by another newbie to Denver that I met for skiing through another great Denver site SkiCarPool.  So what if the TWID site’s not as clean… I don’t care, I’m consuming this in reader anyway.  Plus it’s got a calendar of upcoming events, which I think could come in rather useful.   I have however uncovered a flaw… maybe two flaws.

Today I read a great article about a wine shop in downtown denver which holds tasting events and looks to have a very nice selection.  Great!  I’ve been dying out here, away from SoCal where wine was so much more tangible, where I was only 3-4 hours away from great wineries and their hand-crafted products.  So I clicked the link on the bottom of the article to be taken to the proper site for SIP (the wine shop in question)…. bad link.  Oh that’s no biggie, I screw up all the time, I’ll leave a nice comment thanking the contributor for the post and correcting the link (if someone hasn’t already).  Click the link to leave a response… broken?  Maybe it’s a Firefox issue… still would consider it broken… comment would now include this info… doesn’t work in IE either…  Looked around the page… oh, the article is reprinted… odd…  But whatever, if he doesn’t want comments on his article that’s his business…  doesn’t make for a good community blog though…  I’ll write a nice note to one of the editors letting them know that the link is misspelled and that I like their site, thanks so much, blah blah blah…  mmm… can’t seem to find a “contact us” link…  About us?  nope, nothing there… The editors!  that will link me to an email where I can leave a, now not as nice, but still informative note… nothing…  REALLY?  Not that my email is posted on my website… makes me think about changing that… but my comments work!  And really I have like 4 maybe 5 people reading my site and they all know what my email is, probably even know my cell number.  More to the point my site isn’t supposed to be a community events site… it’s a Schwende as dictator, write what I want, when I want, type of deal here.

whatever… just google “SIP Denver” and it’s the first link… wasn’t that hard…

arg… wish there was a denverist… maybe call it milehighist…

Not KJ .. this is from Pops

Everyone needs a wine shop. One nice thing about our location in A2 is the proximity of Morgan and York, just a walk or bike ride up the street. They have everything, and a staff that knows how to help out. Got my case of Rodulpho Tannat 2004 there, a wine that is useful in hand-to-hand combat, maybe, but probably a rich source of epicatechen, or however it is spelled. The flavanoid profile of Tannat and other wines from the Gers region in France needs to be proven by LC-MS work that is currently on the back-burner.

Current project is to figure out brandy-grenadine drinks, because I have plenty of both. A Brandy Gump was just too sour. Suggestions?

Hope we can visit SIP next trip out to Denver if it is worthwhile. I’ll check out the website.
