I watched a ton of movies and so that it wasn’t a total waste of time I shall now justify the time spent on my couch with a little creativity… I shall review them.
Balls of Furry
Sucked balls with furry. No one should watch this movie, I have taken the bullet for you. However if you do by chance find yourself with this DVD (like someone else rented it, or everything else in the store was gone… does anyone rent from stores anymore?) whatever, if you have the movie and a couple minutes you should fast forward to the sceens with Christopher Walken. Walken is awesome.
The Simpsons Movie
meh. Kinda like a really long episode which covers all of the common Simpsons mechanics. If you laugh at the episodes you will laugh during the movie, just don’t expect any surprises.
3:10 to Yuma
Good Movie! Not great, but good. Lots of guns and shooting and horses and wild westyness. Good guys stay good guys and some die, bad guys (or guy) redeems a small portion of himself, rest of bad guys dead.
Rescue Dawn
Good Movie! P.O.W. does what pows do in these movies, crashes in plane, is captured, survives in a camp, makes friends with other pows, escapes, survives, escapes, survives, is rescued. The only thing I didn’t like about the movie is that the ending doesn’t tie up the way I wanted it to, you’re left holding the bag emotionally on a couple story lines.
Rush Hour 3
I can’t wait for Rush Hour 4! Whatever, I like Chris Tucker & Jackie Chan movies. They’re like crime fighting action candy with singing, dancing, and happy endings.
Mr. Woodcock
Sucks. Do you remember the scene from the trailer where Billy Bob gets hit with the chair? Yeah, that’s the funny part of the movie, the rest is just worthless setup for the jokes you already saw.
Ratatouille
Cute. Good. It’s a Disney movie, wtf do you expect? Though I couldn’t help wondering why Mickey didn’t make a cameo… is he too good for that kind of thing these days? I mean it’s a movie with a bunch of rats! How tough would it be to show Mickey, the corner stone of the entire empire, a little love!?
Stardust
Great! I did not expect to like this flick… but I did. Adventure, fantasy worlds, and a gorgeous blond (yes, I have a crush on Claire Danes). The movie does drag on a bit at times, but these times tended to include Claire so I didn’t notice until thinking about the pace of the movie. If you like the Harry Potter films you’ll most likely get caught up in this story too.
Shoot ‘em Up
This movie sucks. Which I think sucks because I loved seeing Paul Giamatti being all evil and pissed-off… even when no one was ordering merlot. Really though, unless you’ve got a four day weekend with little to do… um… there’s nothing to see here.
Net, net of the weekend… I am working on a script where Giamatti gets to be evil and fight alongside an even more evil character played by Walken. They will be battled by forces of good, naturally played by Tucker and Chan. We’ll see how this develops…
