Today is an odd day. Last week I was presented with a job offer, earlier this week the offer (well the comp plan really) was explained, yesterday I started a dialog with my current employer about the possibility of leaving (and how things might change if I stayed), this morning I got a soft sales pitch from one of the owners on the reasons I should stay. On the one hand Senior Care of Colorado is a great company doing great things. I like my boss, the owners are amazing guys, geriatrics is a growing social concern, the position is low stress, and I have every evening to do whatever I want. The other hand holds an unknown culture, 75% travel, the opportunity to be rewarded sooner ($$$) for working hard, and a much clearer career path.
I walked in to the office thinking I knew which I was choosing. I find it very easy to argue both sides. Life would be more comfortable if I was making more money. There are other ways to make more money than taking a different job. If I am traveling 75% of my time, what does life look like? What do I do if in 6 months I hate it?
I have till 5pm today to figure this out, or ask for more time.
